Fool Moon Theatre was founded in 2005 as a nonprofit theatre company. Our inaugural season was staged at the now-demolished United Trinity Methodist Church in Ventnor and consisted of the hilarious canine comedy SYLVIA and the sharped-edged one-acts DEATH DEFYING ACTS.

In 2006, we began a five-year residence at the Margate Community Church beginning with THE FANTASTICKS and ending with the Rodgers and Hammerstein revue, A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING.  Along the way, there were lots of laughs with such comedies as Neil Simon’s SUNSHINE BOYS, A.R. Gurneys THE DINING ROOM, William Inge’s BUS STOP, the Wrigley Field based-comedy BLEACHER BUMS, and the madcap BEAU JEST.

In October 2017, Fool Moon Theatre kicked off the revamped The Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point with OUR TOWN. Later productions included STEEL MAGNOLIAS, ON GOLDEN POND, Neil Simon’s LONDON SUITE, BLUE YONDER, LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE, and a reprise of SYLVIA.

In 2022, Fool Moon returned to the Margate Community Church, staging shows that bring joy to the community and add greatly to the church’s openness, inclusivity, and ministry.  The Church has a long history of supporting live theater. In the 1990s, it housed Margate Little Theatre which produced numerous shows including, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, PIRATES OF PENZANCE, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, and SHENANDOAH.

Fool Moon Theatre is excited to contribute to the arts and culture in South Jersey.  Please join us. We are always on the lookout for passionate, talented people. Email foolmoontheatre@gmail.com.
